# Parallel, Not Dependent

Although classified as a Layer-2, an L2PS does **not rely on the DEMOS Network to operate**. Instead, it runs fully in parallel with other subnetworks and the wider DEMOS node ecosystem.

The only dependency an L2PS has on DEMOS is the **attestation of its completed workflows** by the DEMOS Consensus. This allows L2PS networks such as XChain to remain autonomous while still benefiting from shared verification and trust guarantees.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter:

```
GET https://cruxdecussata.gitbook.io/xchain-introduction/overview/what-is-an-l2-parallel-subnetwork-l2ps/parallel-not-dependent.md?ask=<question>
```

The question should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.
